Your daily guide to both sides of the Falls

Today's Weather

On the US side, expect showers likely today with highs in the lower 50s°F and a 70% chance of rain. Pack an umbrella — it's not a deal-breaker, it just means the Falls look extra dramatic. Over on the Canadian side, Environment Canada calls for a high of 13°C with a 60% chance of showers — same story, different currency. Layers and waterproof footwear are your best friends today.

Eat Today

The Griffon Brewery and Gastropub — If a rainy Friday calls for anything, it calls for 60 taps and a riverside perch in Lewiston. This laid-back gastropub is the kind of place where locals actually go — a short scenic drive north of the Falls, with craft beer rotating by the season and hearty gastropub fare that earns its keep. Perfect for a long, leisurely Friday lunch while the rain does its thing outside.

Do Today

Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours — Rain? Pfft. You're going to get soaked anyway. With south winds gusting up to 35 mph today, the Niagara Gorge is going to be churning beautifully, making this one-hour jet boat ride through the whirlpool rapids an especially wild ride. Wet weather gear is provided — just leave your dignity at the dock.

Stay Tonight

The Pillar and Post Inn and Spa — A rainy April Friday is basically a custom order for this gorgeous Niagara-on-the-Lake retreat. A converted 19th-century cannery turned boutique inn, it's all warm stone, fireplaces, and a full spa — exactly what the doctor ordered after a wet day at the Falls. Insider tip: book a spa treatment for this evening; weekday slots are easier to snag than weekends.

Quick Tip

If you're crossing into Canada today, have your passport (not just a driver's license) ready — border wait times tend to spike on Friday afternoons, so aim to cross before noon or after 7 p.m. for a smoother ride.
